What Do We Do for the Community?
We provide unique activities to approximately 100 adult brain injury survivors, their caregivers and /or families (new brain injuries or old brain injuries) who live in the Roanoke Valley. These activities provide a supportive, nonjudgmental environment.
The below list contains more information about our activitie:
7 Adaptive Golf Clinics at Blue Hills Country Club with an average attendance of 35 people. We provide boxed lunches and free instruction for people with brain injuries. For six years this has been very successful!
7 Adaptive Golf Clinics for veterans at Green Acres Driving Range with an average attendance of 16 people. This new program has caught on quickly and is growing rapidly with veterans returning with brain injuries and disabilities.
11 Brain Injury Support Group meetings at Community Hospital. These are structured to provide “l life after brain injury” information and support to survivors and caregivers.
Social events throughout the year for survivors, caregivers and families.
Scholarships are provided to those in need for all our activities , including a week’s attendance at Camp bruce McCoy (a camp designed specifically for people with brain injuries).
