AdScape is a day-long program designed to give creative high school students an insider's view of the world of advertising, and to promote cultural diversity in the advertising industry.
This annual event is hosted by Radford University, and uncovers some of the exciting career opportunities to be found in the advertising and marketing fields, and put students in hands-on workshops such as 3D animation, broadcast media, branding and social media, audio/video production, digital media, and commercial photography. All workshops are taught by leading local advertising and marketing professions in their field.
AAF Roanoke champions effective nonprofit marketing through pro bono marathons and education.
In October, AAF Roanoke sponsored CreateAthon, a 24-hour, work-around the clock creative blitz during which local advertising, marketing, and public relations professionals from the Roanoke and New River valleys generate marketing services for local non-profits that have little or no marketing budget. Volunteers work through the day, night and into the next morning to provide the non-profit organizations with collateral ranging from websites, photography, videos, print, and ad campaigns. In 2017, 26 volunteers came together to complete projects for 11 nonprofits.
Your donation will help this work continue. Funds help feed volunteers and keep the coffee flowing so that they can be their most creative selves, as well as take care of supplies to create finished, usable projects for nonprofits. And your donation is going back to the community at large, because nonprofits that are selected for the program get free advertising and creative services (so they can use their operating budgets for programming needs).
AAF Roanoke and its volunteers have donated more than $1 million worth of advertising materials and services to nonprofits throughout the region in the past 6 years.
