Brain Injury Services of SWVA

$510.00 contributions
9 donors

Raised: $510Remaining: $9490

Brain injury occurs every 21 seconds in the United States and affects people from all walks of life. It strikes without regard to race, religion, gender, age, or socio-economic status.  Some causes include falls, auto accidents, heart attack, stroke, sports injury, or illness.

The effects may be mild or severe.  Cognitive and physical symptoms are the most obvious effects, but behavioral and emotional symptoms can be equally challenging.

There is no cure.

However, coordinating supportive services can empower persons with brain injury and their families to again become involved in their communities as they return home, to school, to work, and to life.

Brain Injury Services of SWVA can provide support and assistance through:

- Behavioral & Mental Health
- Cognitive Skills & Communication
- Education & School Re-entry
- Employment & Job Training
- Health & Medical Services
- Home Modifications
- Mobility & Transportation
- Recreation & Socialization
- Self-care and Independent Living
- Volunteering
