CAFE (Cultural Arts for Excellence) is a comprehensive after school experience, founded on the arts, that captures the imagination of middle school students through the delivery of curriculum-alighed activities in drama, dance and music.  Additionally, students are provided homework assistance and a nutritious daily snack.

CAFE ensures consistency in learning and nurtures proper development of organizational and study skills by building strong partnerships with school teachers, support staff, and administrators.  This provides a seamless transition from the school day to after school programming.

CAFE provides mentors to instill leardership and promote healthy development of interpersonal skills essential for positive self-esteem.

Creativity is a hallmark of CAFE programming.  CAFE activities and workshops are unique to any after school program in the Valley.  A visitor to the CAFE would find students engaged in any of the below activities.

Educational Field Trips - The CAFE is committed to providing meaningful life experiences to its students.  Students learn about grocery retail and eating healthy below.

Impactful Workshops - The CAFE offers a wide variety of workshops for its participants.  Drama, etiquette, career exploration, social skills, and culinary arts.  Below students are participating in a healthy foods workshop put on by the American Culinary Federation.

Steel Drums Band - As a member of the CAFE, students become part of a steel drum band, gaining skills in reading music and performing for the public.  The CAFE Steel Drum Band has traveled throughout Roanoke and the state of Virginia, performing at local churches, Dicken's of a Christmas, Roanoke City's Arts in the Park, and the Caribbean Music Festival in Virginia Beach.

The CAFE truly appreciates your contribution, and will use it for the continued funding of CAFE programming.  We could not continue without the support and generosity of the community.
