Children’s Assistive Technology Services is excited to be participating in this year’s Roanoke Valley Gives Day! Our supporters made 2017 a tremendous success, and we know 2018 will be even greater! We have set a goal to raise $20K in order to purchase a  cargo van. That’s right, we’ve got “A Plan for a  VAN!”. Currently, our amazing volunteers are putting wear and tear on their personal vehicles (and their backs) in order to transport equipment from our two “Hubs” in Roanoke and Hampton Roads, to all corners of the state.  With a lower loading deck and protection from the elements, a cargo van would make our already efficient process of re-using pediatric rehabilitation equipment even that more effective. By getting adaptive equipment to children in Virgnia, we are giving them the opportunity to…

-Play with their friends and siblings
-Participate in meals and bath times
-Explore their world, moving and learning
-Do more for themselves and be more independent

Volunteers collect donations and make sure equipment is clean and refurbished.  Fittings are coordinated with the child's own therapist and/or carried out by professional volunteer staff.

Your gift gives a child what he or she needs to have more opportunities to participate at home, at school or in their community.  This could be a wheelchair, or gait trainer or walker, a first one or replacing one too quickly outgrown.  It might be a bath or shower chair allowing for a safe and fun daily routine!  It could be an adaptive seating system, a therapy tool for a home program, or a medical stroller for that little one, so Mom can finally get out and about and Baby sees the world.  Health care, early intervention and education dollars are not stretching far enough.  These kids need your help now!  Thank you so very much!
