How your donation will help:
It costs nearly $7 per meal to provide Meals on Wheels to homebound elderly.  In 2017, the LOA served 129,740 meals to 848 persons.   These numbers continue to decrease due to budget contraints.

It costs over $20 per person, per day, for meals at the Diner's Club sites and for transportation to and from the sites so seniors can have nutrition and socialization.  In 2017, the LOA served 9,924 meals to 233 persons.  Demand for this service is increasing but funding is not.

It costs nearly $6 per one-way trip to provide transportation to the doctor and other emergency appointments.  In 2017, the LOA made 14,358 one-way trips to transport 336 persons. There continues to be a waiting list for this program, particularly in rural areas. 

It costs $2.15 per person to provide Emergency Services such as FanCare and food assistance In 2017, the LOA helped 433 persons obtain emergency services.  In addition, over 3,200 bags of food were delivered during Soup for Seniors.

Also in 2017, our Case Management team assisted 1307 older persons and their caregivers in finding needed services in the area.

Last year, the LOA added Assisted Transportation, Options Counseling and Care Transitions to its aresenal of services for seniors 60 and older.  Those programs served 46 seniors in 2017.

Our Caregiver Services currently serve over 100 clients per year with Homemaker services in the home, Counseling, Adult Day Care, and Personal Care.

In 2017, the LOA created the Elder Justice Alliance with many agency partners to assist victims of Elder Abuse and to educate the community on warning signs.

Our Ombudsman assisted over 320 seniors and their caregivers with Long-Term Care referrals and Nursing Home complaints.  Our Insurance Counselors assisted 2860 seniors in finding the Medicare coverage that was right for them.  And our Legal Assistance Program helped 49 seniors with the preparation of Powers of Attorney, Advance Medical Directives and simple wills.
