Franklin County Humane Society

Did you know that the Franklin County Humane Society takes in 80 percent of our counties animals as well as helping other shelters in the surrounding areas such as Roanoke and Pittsylvania county? Since the adoption center opened in 2009 we have helped find safe placement for over 13,000 animals. Since the opening of our spay and neuter clinic we have done over 51,000 spays and neuters.  All on zero government funding.  It is donations from YOU that make this possible!

We have made incredible strides in our county and surrounding areas. We have been the driving force that has reduced the kill rate at our local open intake animal control shelter. We have turned the tables in our community. Instead of 2,000 plus pets dying in our county each year, they are being saved!   In 2016 we saved over 2200 pets!

We opened our low cost spay/neuter clinic in 2000. Our goal at our Planned Pethood Clinic is to stop the needless destruction of healthy dogs, cats, puppies and kittens by reducing pet overpopulation. High volume low cost spay neuter is essential to reducing the number of animals entering shelters and pounds each year.

Our affordable spay/neuter prices are subsidized by donations.
