Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southwest Virginia (RMHC of SW VA) is about keeping families with sick children close to each other and the care and resources they need. And the Ronald McDonald Family Room located inside Carilion Children's provides a respite area where parents may grab a snack, take a break, and still remain steps from their child's bedside.
An average of 700 families a year that must travel from hours away to Roanoke for their child to recieve medical care stay at the Ronald McDonald House. In July of 2013, the Helms were one of these families when Kristen had to deliver 4 weeks early due to an unexpected emergency. Five years later, we celebrate with the Helms in honor of all of the families who RMHC of SW VA support when they are miles from home by providing a comfortable place to rest and meals at no cost to them. Because a family in crisis shouldn't have to worry about anything but being a family.

Follow us live on Facebook on 3.14.18 beginning at 10:00 am for a Family's Journey with the Helms. Starting at the Martinsville Speedway, the Ronald McDonald Mobile lead by a pace car and police escort makes it's way to Roanoke. As we pick up friends along the way we will travel to Rivers Edge South in Roanoke. There we ask all to gather at noon for a 1 mile walk to the Ronald McDonald House. Hear first hand from Kristen Helms about their journey in 2013. Then celebrate with us for cake, ice cream, and popcorn in honor of Roanoke Valley Gives Day!
