You have to love dancing to stick to it. It gives you nothing back, no manuscripts to store away, no paintings to show on walls and maybe hang in museums, no poems to be printed and sold, nothing but that single fleeting moment when you feel alive.

The life of a dancer is both a trial and a joy. The passion for the art of dance and desire to share that passion is more important at times than the dancer's ability to support themselves. Dancers will dance with injuries and blistered feet. They will dance when they are exhausted from working two other jobs. They will even dance when they can barely afford to live and buy groceries. This campaign is for the Roanoke Ballet Dancers' Fund. The proceeds of this fund will benefit the following: Paying for new equipment for the dancers including new barres and maintenance for the floors, compensating our professional dancers for rehearsal and performance time, as well as covering the expenses of producing and performing our educational outreach programs. Our dancers do so much for the community in terms of spreading the joy of dance, supporting our children in their exposure and knowledge of dance, and dancing in accessible performances. Please support our dancers.
