The Science Museum of Western Virginia inspires and motivates children to seek their full potential through science, technology, medicine, and engineering. We believe that igniting a love of learning through science has a transformational value upon a childs life and your support makes that possible!

You can help
underserved children in the Roanoke Valley and beyond by providing scholarships to attend one of our many STEM summer camps!

Our Mission:
To make science and technology accessible to all people by being an outstanding regional institution that ignites and nurtures life-long learning.

Science Museum of Western Virginia is the oldest science museum in Virginia, founded in 1970 by a group of teachers and community volunteers to provide informal science experiences to enhance education in the classroom.

We inspire a fascination with science throughout the region. We offer hands-on science exhibits, special events and programs, summer camps, and outreach programs. Your RV Gives donation will support our summer camp scholarship program.
Thanks to the generosity of a few community members and businesses, we had a chance to offer summer camps at little or no cost to some young Roanoke residents last summer. If you could be a butterfly on our walls, you would see first-hand how active learning and play spark an interest in science, technology, engineering, and math. You would also experience the boost in self-confidence these children enjoy from participating in one of our summer camps.

The Science Museum of Western Virginia offers visitors what TV, the Internet, and other popular media cannot: the opportunity to touch, explore, interact, engage the senses, and experience personal “aha!” moments of discovery.
