SVB’s mission to bring excellence in pre-professional ballet training free of charge to our community is enhanced by these performance opportunities and the weekly rehearsals that bring our young dancers ages 9-18 together for classes and training.  Your support and contribution through “Roanoke Valley Gives” is essential to the continued efforts to provide excellence in dance education and experiences to these young people.

Southwest Virginia Ballet’s annual production of "The Nutcracker" brings 150 community members into the theater to join our 50 company members and bring this holiday tradition to life.  In 2018, over 2,000 school children attended a special performance of this classic. We open the door to our diverse community by inviting over 500 clients of human service organizations to attend free of charge so that cost is not a barrier to their enjoyment of a performing arts experience.

Pedro Szalay, SVB Artistic Director, continues to create new choreography and bring a broad range of dance to the stage.  In spring 2019, SVB will collaborate with The Jefferson Center in Roanoke to produce “Firebird” and bring new works by Szalay and SVB alumni dancer Susan Honer to the stage.  We will again offer discounted and free tickets to area school children and expect close to 900 to be exposed to neo-classical ballet and contemporary choreography through this experience.

Thank you for joining with us to make this possible!
